Ausmelt is a specialised
technology company based in Dandenong Victoria. The company
was formed to commercialise the revolutionary Sirosmelt Top
Submerged Lance (TSL) smelting method invented by Dr John
Floyd while employed by the CSIRO. The technology offers
industry a low cost, high intensity system for smelting base
metal ores and concentrates as well as recovering high value
from wastes. Smelting is rapid and furnace residence times are
minimal yielding significantly lower capital and operating
costs than alternative technologies. The company has
established a global business using the technology in the
non-ferrous smelting industry with plants built or being built
in China, India, Germany, Peru, Japan, Zimbabwe, Namibia,
Korea and Australia. The company's partners and clients in a
broad range of applications and projects include world leading
corporations such as Rio Tinto, Anglo American Corporation,
Metaleurop, Mitsui and Korea Zinc.
